Neftekhimik lost its first game at the FONBET Blinov Cup to Avangard 4–5 OT.

Avangard scored first goal of the evening. At the last minutes of the second period, tied the game up.

In the third period, both team scored 6 goals. At first, Avangard took the lead again. Neftekhimik did not give up - Evgeny Kashnikov and Alexander Dergachyov helped Neftekhimik to get a lead for the first time in this game. After that, Avangard tied the game up. During short-handed play, Evgeny Mityakin made a great set up for Lukas Klok. Lukas made it 4–3 with a laser wrist-shot. Avangard tried its best and equalized the score before the end of regular time. In overtime, our team decided to change a goalie for an extra-forward on the ice. Unfortunately, we conceded a game-winning goal.
