Reaktor Head Coach Ilnar Misbakhov speaks with the media after a following 1–3 loss against Sputnik.
– Your team held the advantage in shots as well as in scoring chances. Why did the team lost the game?– We did not score goals. Especially with so many 100% chances. If you do not score, the other team does, and you lose. Breakaways, open nets... you have to put he puck in. That said, the opposing goaltender played well; he made a lot of big saves.
– Was this related to the team being overly hyped up because of the loss to Sputnik in the season opener? Did you perhaps burn out a bit?
– Not really; we prepared well – both yesterday and this morning. You could see the team was fired up and working hard. We started the first period very well and created plenty of chances, but we did not score when we had the chance. Then the second period began with some baffling penalties right from the start – first a four-minute penalty, then ten consecutive minutes shorthanded. Naturally, it is hard to score under those conditions. The momentum shifted to Almetyevsk. No matter how many chances we created, we just could not find the back of the net.
– What do you attribute the high number of penalties to?
– That is hard to say. I think some of it stems from an intense desire to win. But you have to keep both your stick and your emotions under control.
