Legendary Nizhnekamsk Hockey Coach retires

Today, one of the legends of Nizhnekamsk hockey, Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Petrovich Yashin announced his retirement. His name is forever inscribed in gold letters in the history of Nizhnekamsk hockey.


Oleg Petrovich's sports career began in October of 1968, when he came to Nizhnekamsk at the age of 17 and became a goaltender for the newly created Neftekhimik. After finishing his playing career, he devoted himself to coaching, starting his career at the Chaika (outside hockey team). With the advent of the Neftekhimik Hockey School, he became one of the first professional coaches and teachers and for 37 years taught children the intricacies of this national game and achieved great success.

The achievements of Oleg Petrovich's students speak for themselves. Under his leadership, the students became winners and prize winners of the Volga Region and Russian championships. Yashin's students, as part of the national youth team, won awards at the European Championships, World Championships and the World Universiade.

It is impossible to overestimate the contribution to the development of children's hockey and the preparation of the reserve of the JHL team Reaktor. Until the last days of his coaching career, Oleg Petrovich paid great attention to the development of young hockey players, passing on his rich experience and knowledge to them.

In recognition of his merits and gratitude for many years of work, Oleg Petrovich was presented with a special gift – a personalized sweater with the autographs of all his fellow coaches, club managers, office workers. Each signature on the sweater is a symbol of respect and gratitude for the years of working together, for the warmth and care that he gave to young hockey players, for his professionalism and dedication to the cause. Over the years of his work, Oleg Petrovich has trained more than one generation of talented hockey players, and made an invaluable contribution to the development of sports in Nizhnekamsk. His professionalism, dedication to the cause, and love for hockey will remain an example for many generations of coaches and athletes. Let Oleg Petrovich's well-deserved rest become a time that he can devote to his family and friends, surrounded by the respect and gratitude of everyone who had the opportunity to work with him or learn from him.
