Matvei Nadvorny: «It turned out to be a good game»

16.09.2026

Neftekhimik forward Matvei Nadvorny speaks with the media after a following 3–0 win over Sibir.

– It turned out to be a good game, even though things didn’t start off too well for me personally. I’m grateful to the guys for holding firm while we were shorthanded. I think that was the turning point – standing strong as a team. That effort created scoring chances for us in the third period; we earned them and managed to score.

What was going through your mind during those five minutes you spent in the penalty box?
I’m so grateful to the guys for holding the line – especially considering it was an unnecessary penalty on my part. Thanks to them. I was sitting there, anxious and hopeful. The guys did a great job.

What were your emotions like after you scored the goal?
The game hadn’t been going my way. I wanted to let out all that pent-up emotion, but I couldn’t really do that after the penalty. When I finally scored, I let out a sigh of relief. Thank God we finished the game strong. Thanks to everyone.

It’s almost as if you had already pictured that winning celebration during those five minutes in the box?
Yeah, it got a bit emotional. That’s just how the game played out.
