Continuing its traditional road trips to cities across Tatarstan, Neftekhimik played an exhibition game in Yelabuga.
We were warmly welcomed at the ice rink, the players and coaches were treated to karavai (a traditional Russian cuisine) and chak-chak (a traditional Tatar cuisine). On their way to the locker room, the players were greeted by young hockey players from a local hockey school, with whom they exchanged high fives and good luck wishes.Three great periods of hockey brought joy and excitement to the fans. Despite the final score on the scoreboard 5:11 in favor of the guests, a great and friendly atmosphere were at the ice rink and on the stands. Fans supported both teams, enjoying the game and the special atmosphere of friendly hockey.
After this game, Neftekhimik players were surrounded by fans who wanted to get autographs and take photos. In order to be sure that everyone had time to meet their favorite players, a line formed even along the route from the arena to the bus.
Neftekhimik Head Coach Igor Grishin:
– We try to popularize hockey by giving kids from different cities the opportunity to get to know the sport better. The Yelabuga-1000 team showed an excellent level – they have real talents who can develop into strong hockey players. It's crucial that children in small towns like Yelabuga have the opportunity to play hockey and make new friends through sport.
HC Chelny player Matvei Nikiforov:
– At first, I was nervous, but later I got used to the speed of the game and even scored a goal! It was a wonderful experience to play agaisnt a KHL team and receive support from parents in the stands. I'll definitely be following Neftekhimik and coming to their games!
The trip to Yelabuga was another shining example of how Neftekhimik is actively working to develop hockey in the region, bringing people together and sharing the joy of the game.
