Oleg Leontyev: «We created a lot of scoring chances»
27.08.2024
Neftekhimik head coach Oleg Leontyev about 2–1 win over Magnitla.
– It was a bit tough at the beginning of the game. We started not well. In the first 10 minutes of the game, we probably made only one shot towards the opponent's net. Then it was okay, we got going and took the game into our own hands. The opponent's goaltender played well. We created a lot of scoring chances, but we could not take advantage of it. Overall, we are happy. We are testing the new players. They are playing good, competitive hockey.
– Any information on the injured?
– Two or three people definitely will have not time to recover by the start of the season. That is why we are cutting lines and looking for new combinations.
– How is Profaka?
– He is in recovery. We cannot say the exact recovery time yet.
– Could this affect his adaptation to the KHL?
– He is young and only 22 years old. He got injured in the first game when he blocked the shot. There is nothing complicated about it. He fit in well with the team, they accepted him well. He is a positive guy himself. So there will be no problems with adaptation.
– Young Joey-Christophe Muissu, the leader of Reaktor, came out to play today. How would you rate his play and how likely is he to get a spot in the starting lineup?
– A spot in the starting lineup is not guaranteed to anyone. As a limited player, he has a good chance to get a spot. Why not. It is clear that the guy is progressing, he is talented, he tries, he listens. The main thing is that he is teachable. He listens to us and does what he is told. This is the main quality of a hockey player
