Neftekhimik lost to Lokomotiv 2–4.
The Fonbet Blinov Cup tournament, along with two regular-season games and three playoff matchups, spanned a total of 16 days – Omsk is the place where our team got the most of the crowd last season.
This year's Fonbet Blinov Cup brought together the same teams as last season: Gagarin Cup Champion Lokomotiv, hosts Avangard, Sibir and Severstal.
The first period started with two big hits from Rafael Bikmullin and German Tochilkin in our defensive zone. For much of that stretch, Lokomotiv forced our guys to stay deep and defend. Midway through the period, Matvei Nadvorny was close to score first goal of the game from the left side, unfortunately, he was shut down before he could release a shot. Then Lokomotiv took two penalties in a row. We had a solid first power play. On the second man-advantage, our team managed to make it 1–0 – Evgeny Mityakin fed Artyom Serikov, who made an accurate shot from the blue line.
In the second period Lokomotiv dominated the ice. Two pucks got past Filip Dolganov in just nine seconds – both off deflections from point shots. Late in the period, Lokomotiv scored a third goal. Even being down 1–4, Neftekhimik never stopped battling. Andrei Belozyorov made it 2–4. Later, Ivan Nikolishin had a great chance to make it 3–4, but his shot hit the post.
