Neftekhimik Head Coach Igor Grishin speaks with the media after a following 1–4 loss against Ak Bars.
– The opponent was stronger throughout the entire game, so they deserved to win. To beat an opponent like that, you have to come into the game as one unit, like a close–kneet team and fighting for each other. If a few players are out, or if some cogs in the machine are not working, then it is difficult to compete with such a skilled and motivated team.– Kondrat Reshetnikov scored his first point in the KHL. Is he a role model for the other guys on the junior team?
– At the beginning of the season, Kondrat played some games, but he did not get much on–ice time. I watch Reaktor games often when I have time. It is clear that Reshetnikov is a leader; takes a leaders role in the team, scoring at the right time. Of course, he should be rewarded for that and brought up to the first team. Even though he was listed as the 13th forward, I had planned to include him in the game. He came on in the first period and looked stronger than some of the players. When we switched to three lines, he ended up in that company. He played smart and confidently, and ultimately earned a point.
– Why are Dinar Khafizullin and Maxim Fedotov, two small defensemen are in the same line?
– Maybe they are not a "big defensemen"l but fast, and skate well. Basically, we are happy with this line. Of course, there are changes, especially when we play with seven defensemen.
– How soon will we see Zhafyarov, Popugayev, and Dergachyov on the ice?
– The guys are hitting the ice and practicing as usual. But they are not in good shape yet to show their true level. There is no point in coming out at 50 percent. We need to be fully recovered to play and contribute to the team.
– Filipp Dolganov has played his sixth game in a row. Any thoughts on giving him a rest?
– Filipp is enjoying his on–ice time and playing well. He says he is fine. The team has practice tomorrow, and we will give him a rest. There is still some time before the next game, so he will be ready.
