Press Conference «Neftekhimik – Vityaz» 01/08/2023

Oleg Leontyev, the head coach of HC Neftekhimik:

– It is obvious that this game was an important one for us. We started well, but the opponents had a lot of scoring chances and took advantage of it. In the second period, we played well. Opponent’s goaltender kept their team in the game.

– All goals that we conceded were scored on counterattacks. Do not you think that your team was too much focused on attack?

– There are moments when emotions capture you and you want to score goals. Players skate to offensive zone and spend there too much time. So, there was not much time for them to go back.

– At the end of the game, Neftekhimik had three defenseman in the penalty box, while Vityaz had three forwards. Did it in some way affect your team?

– Nevertheless, we had four defensemen and we were on the power play. It did not affect our team.

Vyacheslav Butsayev, the head coach of HC Vityaz:

– It was a hard game against strong opponent. Despite the fact Neftekhimik took a 1–0, we were sure about today’s win.
