Alexander Dergachyov: «We will work as a close-knit team for the whole season»

Neftekhimik forward Alexander Dergachyov talks about

– Alexander, it was unexpected for our fans that you signed contract so fast. As a rule, rumors about signing contract pop up first and after that information about signed contract.

– We have been in touch with my former team Avangard for quite a long time. We did not find decision that would suit both sides, that is why we decided to part our ways. After that, I got a message from Neftekhimik.

Of course, I had to think twice before making any moves. At the same time it was clear for me that I need preseason camp with a team than trying to be ready for the season by myself.

We found the best option quickly. Oleg Leontyev called me. We talked. After that, the management of the club and my agent did a great job and I was here as soon as possible. Here I am in Nizhnekamsk, motivated to work hard.

– Before you signed contract with Neftekhimik, Nail Yakupov joined our team. Have you talked to him?

– No, no (laughs). I have known Nail for a long time and will ask him to help me settle down in Nizhnekamsk.

– You could have been a part of Neftekhimik 10 years ago. At the KHL draft in Donetsk, just before our selection, SKA drafted you...

– It is an old story. I remember that I was told about several teams who wanted draft me.

– Whom do you know from our team?

– Plenty of guys. I know Alexander Protapovich and Nail Yakupov. In the JHL, I played against Andrei Tikhomirov. I do not think I will have any problems with adjusting. I am a sociable guy. I will make friends with everyone and we will work as a close-knit team for the whole season.

– Alexander, you have a new team, what are your expectations from upcoming season?

– Moving to Neftekhimik is a new challenge for me in my hockey career and I want to do my best in order to help the team.

I knew a lot about Neftekhimik and Nizhnekamsk from a young age. Several times, I played here during my childhood; we had tournaments here. The city is similar to Almetyevsk a little. The same houses, roads, cameras are everywhere. Now I am thinking about renting an apartment or living at baza.
