The Boris Shamarin Memorial Tournament brought together 150 young hockey players from five regions of Russia

Over three days, from April 17th to 19th, the traditional Boris Vladimirovich Shamarin Memorial Tournament was held at the (Neftekhimik) Small Arena.
Six teams (hockey players born in 2016) competed for the main trophy: Neftekhimik (Nizhnekamsk), HC Chelny (Naberezhnye Chelny), Lada (Tolgliatti), Salavat Yulaev (Ufa), Molot Academy (Perm) and Gvozdika (Izhevsk). A total of approximately 150 young hockey players from five regions of Russia competed.Lada got first place, getting 12 points in five games. HC Chelny got second place, while Molot Academy got third place. The tournament host, Neftekhimik got fourth place. Salavat Yulaev and Gvozdika finished fifth and sixth.
Ilya Romanov (Neftekhimik) was named the tournament's best goaltender, Vladimir Chugunov (Lada) was named the best forward, Nikita Dolgikh (Molot Academy) was named the best defenseman, Demid Sagitov (HC Chelny) was named the top scorer, Fyodor Shirobokov (Gvozdika) received the Fans Choice Award, and Daniil Sharafutdinov (Salavat Yulaev) was named the tournament's most valuable player.

Boris Vladimirovich Shamarin has been coaching young hockey players in Nizhnekamsk since the 1980s, first at a outside school team and then at the Neftekhimik Hockey School. His alumni include Albert Minnekayev, Ildar Safiullov, Rustem Khasnullin, Alexei Selikhov, Maxim Berezin, Andrei Sergeyev, Ansel Galimov, Airat Ziazov, and Yaroslav and Stanislav Alshevsky.
Boris Vladimirovich passed away in 2003. For many years, the Small Arena has hosted a tournament in memory of our youth hockeys school's legendary coach, where young hockey players compete.
