Timur Kol: «We kept doing our job»

29.10.2026

Neftekhimik defenseman Timur Kol speaks with the media after a following 3–4 loss against Admiral.

– Conceding a goal with just nine seconds left in the third period is arguably one of the harshest ways to lose. How are you feeling right now? Could you sum up the game?
– My feelings, of course, are not great. We essentially handed them the game. With the score 3–3 in the third period, the momentum moved from us to our opponents; they were waiting for us to slip up, and they made the most of it.

– You did not start the first period well and went into the intermission down 0–2. Why could you not get into the game from the opening minutes?
– We came out a little unfocused. I would not call it poor preparation – it was simply a loss of concentration at key moments, and it cost us two goals. That did not break us, though; we kept doing our job, played well offensively and held our own defensively, which let us draw level and recover from that start.

– What did the coaching staff tell you after the first period?
– Essentially, they told us to keep playing our brand of hockey and not to dwell on the goals we had conceded. If you stick to the game plan, the results follow!

– With the score 3–3, the game could have gone either way. What proved decisive in the third period?
– The momentum turned toward Admiral. They controlled the play far more and created more dangerous chances around our net.

– What lessons does this game offer?
– We have to stay in control for the full sixty minutes. These are games we should be winning. When you come back from 0–2, you have to close it out – but I am confident that, going forward, we will be able to win games like this. We have a very good team.
